Sentences & Super Sentences

Students have been working on proper sentence structure since the beginning of school. A proper sentence includes a capital, period, proper punctuation and neatly spaced words.

Now in our writing notebooks we have been practicing writing super sentences. A super sentence consists of an adjective, a noun, a verb and when and where.

An example of some super sentences we created together are:

  • A black kitty jumped up on the bed in the morning at my house
  • The nice substitute teacher was parking her car at 7:30 am in the parking lot at the school
  • The shiny S.U.V. was speeding past the slow car on the highway

During these lessons we had mini lessons on what each an adjective, a verb and a noun are.
Ask your child to explain what these mean and have them write you a super sentence.
