Bridge Stem Challenge
Students worked on a building challenge this week. The challenge was to construct a bridge that could hold as many "spiders" as possible. Students got into groups of 3 and designed their bridge before they started working. They had yarn, 4 cups, small blocks (spiders) and tape as materials.  Students completed the challenge and as a whole group shared their findings.

Halloween
Next Wednesday is Halloween!  At Ken Taylor school it will be a regular learning day…with an opportunity for some Halloween fun learning as well.  Students can bring their Halloween costumes to school and will have a chance to change into them after lunch

Here are some key points to observe:

  • Students, who choose to, can bring costume to school in their backpack in the morning
  • Students will go to their classroom after lunch; teachers will take attendance and then students can change into their costumes
  • Please keep your child’s costume simple - something that they can do themselves (i.e. no makeup - save that part for when they go out in the evening)
  • Pleasant, fun costumes please - no violence - no blood/gore
  • Masks are okay as long as student can easily see through them for safety
  • We will have a costume parade in the afternoon that will have all students moving through the Embassy to view the Pumpkinella contributions supported by our School Council
  • Students are welcome to bring an additional (special) afternoon snack as after the costume parade they will be invited to have their special snack and do some fun ‘Halloween Learning’ (i.e. we are not having class parties)

Pumpkinella
On Wednesday October 31st,  if students choose to participate students will have the opportunity to bring in a carved or painted pumpkin. The students will be able to see all the pumpkins on display in the Embassy during the Costume parade in the afternoon.
·      Please drop off your pumpkins in the Embassy upon early entry, in the morning
·      Please label your child’s pumpkin as we will return the pumpkin back to the child at the end of the day to take home
·      Please do not send any gory or scary designs
·      Please send pumpkins with battery powered tea lights
