Orange Shirt Day
Today at the school we participated in Orange Shirt Day. Orange shirt day is a legacy of the St.Joseph Mission residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake, BC.
It grew out of Phyllis' story of having her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the Mission and it has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.

In the classroom we read a story- When We Were Alone by David Robertson. We discussed the different aspects of the story as a class and came up with some different ways we can make sure that all students feel cared for and safe in school.
