Winter Celebration Week
On Tuesday December 18th at 1:30pm our class is going to be presenting what they have been working on in the Creative Movement unit at school. The grade 3/4 Choir presents Friday December 21st @8:30 am
Science
Last week after we had created our marshmallow and tooth pick structures, we as a class came up with some different materials to test the strength of our structures. We used a popsicle stick, name tag, tissue box, book, cushion, water bottle and a three hole punch.
We were able to test everybody's structure and we sent them home last week. Ask your child about a fair test and why everybody had a fair test and ask them how much weight their structure was able to hold.
Below are a few pictures of Mr. Kim testing the structures with the different materials and students watching and participating.
Language Arts
In Language Arts we have looked at acrostic poems a few times. With the weather turning we read a story about winter and talked about the different outdoor activities you can do. Students picked their outdoor activity and wrote an acrostic poem about their activity. Some activities included snowboarding, skiing, light festivals, caroling, ice skating, building forts, snowman, snow angels etc, etc. Once students had finished their rough draft of their poem they typed it up on the computer and drew a picture that matched their writing.
Later on in the week we created art projects using white pastels and black construction paper to match a winter scene to our winter acrostic poems.
