Field Trip Volunteers

Thank you to those who are able to volunteer on our 2School Field Trip. We are still looking for volunteers on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Monday and Friday we have enough).

If you are able to volunteer on one of these days please let me know! :)

Mr.Kim

We are so excited to welcome Mr. Kim back into our classroom. Mr.Kim is our student teacher and he was with our class before Winter Break and will be with us until the middle of April.

This week we have been learning about some of Peru's landscapes. Peru is partially covered by the Amazon Rainforest. In order for students to show us their understanding of the new vocabulary words, students were asked to sketch and label their own drawings of a Rainforest.

Science

Mr.Kim led us in our Rocks and Minerals lessons this week. We focused our learning on different ways we could test different rocks. Students brainstormed ideas as to what they could test a rock for. Some ideas included strength, hardness, color, density, etc. Mr. Kim also introduced the Mohs Hardness Scale and students were introduced to a few other examples as to how to test a rock and/or mineral.

After learning about a few new rocks and their hardness, texture, lustre/shininess and transparency, students tasks for this week were to design a structure (house, school, factory, etc) and decide what type of rock they would use for this structure and list why they chose that specific rock.
